Giresun on samannimisen maakunnan pääkaupunki Turkin pohjoisosassa. Vuoden 2015 lopussa kaupungin arvioitu väkiluku oli 105 748.[1]


Kaupungissa toimii yliopisto, joka perustettiin vuonna 2006. Sen edeltäjä oli tyttökoulunopettajien seminaari, joka toimi jo vuodesta 1962.[2]
