Dolní Věstonicen Venus (tšek. Věstonická Venuše) on pienikokoinen keraaminen venusveistos, joka esittää alastonta naishahmoa. Se on ajoitettu ajankohtaan 29 000–25 000 eaa., Gravetten kulttuuriin, ja se löydettiin kivikautiselta asuinpaikalta Brno eteläpuolelta Määrin syvänteestä.

Kuvaus |


Tämä pienoisveistos sekä muutama muu lähiseuduilta löytynyt esine ovat vanhimpia tunnettuja keraamisia veistoksia maailmassa. Se edeltää poltetun saven käyttöä esineinä[1]. Sen korkeus on 11,1 cm ja leveys 0,43 cm leveimmästä kohdasta, ja se on poltettu varsin alhaisessa lämpötilassa.


Määrissä sijaitseva Dolní Věstonicen kivikautinen asuinpaikka, joka kuului järjestelmällisten kaivausten alkuaikana Tšekkoslovakiaan, mutta on nykyisin Tšekin tasavallassa, on ollut Karel Absolon käynnistämien järjestelmällisten arkeologisten tutkimusten kohteena vuodesta 1924. Venusveistoksen lisäksi Dolní Věstonicesta on löytynyt eläinhahmoja, kuten karhu, leijona, mammutti, hevonen, kettu, sarvikuono ja pöllö sekä yli 2 000 poltettua savipalloa.


Veistos löydettiin 13. heinäkuuta 1925 tuhkakerrostumasta kahteen osaan haljenneena. Se oli aiemmin esillä Määrin museossa Brnossa, mutta nyt se on enää harvoin yleisön nähtävissä. Viimeksi se on ollut Prahan Kansallismuseossa 2006–2007 Lovci mamutů eli "mammutinmetsästäjänäyttelyssä.
[2][3][4] Tutkijat voivat päästä tutkimaan veistosta. Sille tehdyssä tomografisessa kuvauksessa 2004 siitä löydettiin sitä ennen polttamista käsitelleen noin 7–15-vuotiaan lapsen sormenjälki, joka oli palanut sen pintaan. Tutkijoiden Králík, Novotný ja Oliva mukaan lapsi tuskin olisi sitä kuitenkaan valmistanut. [5]
