John William Waterhouse (1849–1917): Undine oli esillä Society of British Artistsin näyttelyssä 1872.


Undiinit (lat. unda = aalto)[1] eli aallottaret ovat veden hengettäriä tai haltiattaria, ja yleensä ne on kuvattu naishahmoina.


Undiinit kuuluivat keijuihin. Näin uskoi Paracelsus (1493–1541) vuonna 1530 teoksessaan Liber de nymphis. Niiden sielu ei ollut kuolematon, mutta ne saattoivat saada sen yhtyessään ”maalliseen” mieheen.[1]
