Werfen on kaupunki St. Johann im Pongaun alueella, Salzburgin osavaltiossa, Itävallassa. Se on pääasiassa tunnettu Hohenwerfenin linnasta ja Eisriesenwelt-jääluolasta, joka on maailman suurin.

Werfen sijaitsee historiallisen Pongaun alueen luoteisosassa, Tennen-vuoriston ja Berchtesgadenin Alppien eteläreunassa. Kaupunki on rakentunut Salzach-joen laaksoon, noin 40 kilometriä etelään Salzburgin kaupungista. Salzburg-Tiroli -rautatie sekä Tauern Autobahn -moottoritie kulkevat rinnakkain joen kanssa.



Historia |


Asutuskeskus on yksi vanhimpia entisen Salzburgin arkkipiispan vaikutusalueelle kuuluneista kauppapaikoista. Hohenwerfenin linna, jonka eteläpuolella kylä sijaitsee, rakennettiin 1075 arkkipiispa Gebhardin käskystä keisari Henrik IV:n kanssa käydyn Investituurariidan aikana. Toimiessaan paikallisen hallitsijan valtaistuimena, linnaan ja Werfeniin hyökättiin Talonpoikaissodan aikana vuosina 1525-1526. Werfen oli myös protestanttikansalaisten maastakarkotuksen keskus vuonna 1731, arkkipiispa Leopold Anton von Firmianin hallintokaudella. Vuoden 1816 Wienin kongressin jälkeen Werfen päätyi muiden arkkipiispan haltuun kuuluneiden alueiden mukana Itävallan keisarikunnan alaisuuteen.

PallopelitLeikit pallolla Aasi on yksinkertainen pallolla pelattava pallopeli, joka toimii lasten ja nuorten ajanvietteenä. Peliin tarvitaan pallo ja kolme pelaajaa. Kaksi pelaajaa ovat kaukana toisistaan (noin 10m) ja kolmas pelaaja on heidän keskellään. Kaukaisimmat pelaajat heittelevät palloa keskenään, ja keskimmäinen pelaaja, aasi, yrittää siepata pallon itselleen. Jos aasi saa pallon kiinni, hän pääsee sen pelaajan paikalle joka heitti pallon.
